A Bit About Banstead

Banstead is a busy town located in Surrey, in Reigate and Banstead borough. It's just three miles to the south of Sutton, five miles to the southwest of Croydon, eight miles from Kingston-upon-Thames and 13 miles from central London, making it a great choice for families and businesses alike.

History

Banstead is located on the North Downs and is classified as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), due to its green belt status and Banstead Downs. The civil parish dates back to 1872, and the area rapidly became an urban area, especially as travel routes made it entirely possible to commute easily into central London. 

The area has an expansive, green feel with attractive historic buildings, a wide high street and some great restaurants, pubs and bars, as well as coffee shops. It's a friendly part of the world with very easy access into the city, making it popular with commuters and families who want the best of both worlds.

Location and Travel

Banstead Station offers regular rail services to London Victoria and Epsom Downs via Norbury and Crystal Palace. It's located next to Banstead Down Golf Course and Cuddington golf course. You can also take the train from Banstead High Street, which is a ten-minute drive to and from the train station. The M3 and M25 are both located nearby and easily accessible via local A roads. Nearby areas include Purley, Epsom, Tadworth, Coulsdon, Wallington and Sutton.

Local Amenities

Banstead was once a sleepy little Surrey village, but today it's a vibrant community with plenty of amenities. The High Street is long and filled with shops, restaurants and cafes, with large pubs at each end. The area has plenty of green space to enjoy too, including Banstead Common. Key attractions include Banstead Woods, Oak Tree Lavender Farm, and Tadworth Leisure and Community Centre. There are plenty of walks in the area, and there are also a number of highly-recommended curry houses.
